"The deep blues flowing beneath all language come to the surface here. Asher Marron rescues, as only a poet can, our collective voices in the name of justice and healing. In the process of this work, we learn that what was lost will be found again."

—Andrew Joron, author of The Absolute Letter

"Asher Marron’s chapbook We were alone together. I forget the rest. is a serious project on life within the COVID pandemic. The personas are well-chosen and well- articulated in these timely poems. Asher’s eye and ear are instruments of precision as the words of workers and other citizens feel like an urgent drumbeat. The reader responds to these rhythms as indelible facts are urgently offered. Reminiscent of CD Wright’s prison book, One Big Self, Asher’s book takes us there, whatever the consequences."

—Maxine Chernoff, author of Without
